This test enables the measurement of several noise results:
- Temporal noise
- Fixed pattern noise
- 3D Noise
- Temporal NPSD (noise power spectra density)
- Spatial NPSD (noise power spectra density)
The temporal noise is the RMS temporal instability of the signal of the optical device under test.
The Fixed Pattern Noise is the spatial signal non-uniformity of the camera under test.
3D noise is an 8-component vector illustrating the links between temporal and spatial noise.
In order to define these values, we have to look at a CCD camera image as a 3 dimensional coordinate system like show on the figure below.
The three dimensions are vertical (V), horizontal (H) and time (T).
